Beard Growing Contest - 125th Anniversary

Details:    Let the 125th anniversary games begin! This year marks Castle Rock’s quasquicentennial – the anniversary of the town’s incorporation as a Colorado municipality. A celebration of the town’s past, present and future is planned on Saturday, Aug 12, downtown. In anticipation of celebration day, the Town and its community partners are hosting a contests for individuals interested in a chance at earning cash prizes and taking their own place in Castle Rock history!

The beard contest is an encore from the centennial celebration in 1981! As was the case 25 years ago, the Eagles Club of Castle Rock is sponsoring the beard contest, which kicks off June 16. Beard contest winners will be judged during the Aug. 12 celebration. That gives contestants about eight weeks to grow that facial hair. Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: longest, shaggiest, fullest, grayest and doesn’t count as a beard! Beard contest contestants must pre-register with a photo taken in a clean-shaven state on one of two occasions in June: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 16 at Town Hall, 100 N. Wilcox St., and from 1 to 3 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.at the Eagles Club of Castle Rock, 150 Caprice St., on June 18. For more information about the beard contest, call Judy Crenshaw, 303-663-7653.
